It is firstly important to create greater awareness among family members of persons with disabilities and the broader community on the potential capabilities of persons with disabilities and the role they can play in the family and community by adopting more inclusive mindsets and practices.
A further focus will be to lobby various government agencies, NGOs and communities to ensure that persons with disabilities have improved access and are better able to participate in family and community life. A specific outcome of this project is the alteration of physical facilities such as ramps, right sized door frames, improved signage in clinics and schools, lower counter heights in shops and positioning of water taps and public phones.
The awareness campaigns will take place by way of whole day activities where participants will be encouraged to overcome the stigma about disability. Available assistive devices will also be introduced and explained to persons with disabilities, family and community members
