Sustainable economic development is the project to reach our ultimate goal; the inclusion and integration of persons with disabilities into society’s mainstream activities. This project is currently implemented in four different areas in South Africa and Zambia in the sector of agricultural. Often rural agricultural projects do not allow persons with disabilities to get actively involved in Economic development in their communities. The protected enviroment and user friendly design of our greenhouse tunnels and Chicken farm houses are suitable for persons with physical disabilities and intellectual challenges. The importance of growing of locally used vegetables and the production of eggs and chicken is a key aspect of food security to rural and urban communities.
This projects implementation results in Local Economic Development for employment, income generation, food security and socio-economic inclusion with special emphasis on the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their families. Appropriate technologies make the operation of the tunnel structures and chicken houses accessibility for person with disabilities.
